My Honest Review: Foundations

4 makeup foundation reviews

Hi makeup lovers!

A fun fact about myself: I’m a little bit of a makeup junkie and I love to try new products. Sephora and Ulta are my happy places. I don’t discriminate either, I use both high-end and drugstore products, it really just depends.

I am reviewing 4 foundations in today’s post. My picks are completely unbiased, they are all products that I have bought and used myself. I’m very particular when it comes to foundation. I want a great product with nice, buildable coverage. Is that too much to ask for??? So enough with my yapping, let’s get started…

*I apply all my foundations the same way, using a damp Beauty Blender to apply.

4 makeup foundation reviews1. CHANEL PERFECTION LUMIERE
Chanel…how you disappointed me. This foundation was NOT what I was expecting it to be. Such a bummer considering how beautiful the packaging is. The application is horrible and difficult to blend. The coverage is very light and not buildable whatsoever. This just proves that high-end, designer products are not always the best.
Score- 2 out of 5
Would I Buy Again?- No

4 makeup foundation reviews2. ULTA BRAND DEMI-MATTE FOUNDATION
I was pleasantly surprised with how nice this foundation applied. Having dry skin, I wasn’t too sure how a demi-matte consistency would work on me but it applied great. The coverage is nice and buildable but still lets my skin “breathe” and look fresh. All in all, it’s a really good buy for your money.

Would I Buy Again?- Yes

4 makeup foundation reviews3. LOREAL TRUE MATCH SUPER-BLENDABLE MAKEUP
This drugstore foundation has been my go-to for years now and it looks like that won’t be changing anytime soon. I can’t rave enough about this foundation. The color selection is unlike anything I’ve seen before, you’re guaranteed to find an exact match for your skin tone. The coverage is perfect for me…it goes on silky and gives me great coverage yet still leaves me with a nice dewy glow. It lives up to the name, it’s very blendable for when I need to go back a second time around and add more coverage.
Score- 5 out of 5
Would I Buy Again?= Yes!

4 makeup foundation reviews4. LA ROCHE-POSAY EFFACLAR BB BLUR
This is a nice product that I’m glad I came across. It may not be my every day choice but it’s good to have on hand when I’m looking to use something lighter than the normal foundation. It comes out of the tube like whipped cream and goes on very smooth. It has buildable coverage and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking smooth.
Score- 3 out of 5
Would I Buy Again?- Yes

Hey! I am actually in need of a new foundation since I think the one I use is not produced anymore. I realized what I jungle I have to go through to find one that I like. I’m interested in the L’orΓ©al one but I’ve never seen it! I should be able to find it here in France though as it’s a French brand πŸ˜‰

I’ve used the True Match before and I honestly didn’t like it that much. I”m glad that it worked for someone! But it just didn’t work out well for me because it made me skin way too oily!

    • Jessica Anderson

Oh really? Hmmm, maybe it works better with dry skin, cause mine is like the Sahara πŸ˜…

I had the same experience with Chanel too, I found it did not work well with my skin and quite often I find the cheaper foundations are less abrasive.

I have never used any of these foundations but I don’t really use it as I am lucky to have good skin and there’s nothing to cover really. I however use BB cream as a base and I love it as it so light and hydrates my face.

I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any
interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough
for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made
good content as you did, the web will be
a lot more useful than ever before.

Wow Jack, thank you…that’s so nice πŸ™‚

I love that the drugstore brand was your favorite overall! Just goes to show that brand name doesn’t always mean a lot!
